Hello

My name is Marilyn. I am a gong meditation and restorative yoga facilitator with exposure to trauma-informed practices.

​

What I teach have helped me greatly in my times of need. The need for mental health awareness is increasingly gaining traction, especially after a global pandemic. Through my sessions, I hope to share a slice of the peace and rest that I received through my practice.

​

My story

Since young, I rarely enjoyed rejuvenation from sleep. The permanent dark rings around my eyes are a constant reminder that my sleep was not truly restorative. I started seeking ways to get better sleep. I stumbled upon yoga sometime in 2010 at a gym. My first class was a yin yoga class. The calming effects of a yin practice intrigued me. My body and mind liked it, and the yin practice forever holds a special place in my heart.

I have experienced depressive episodes and suicidal tendencies which scared me, but the experience made me curious about how the mind reacts to stress. This curiosity led me to a series of life-changing experiences through my training in restorative yoga and sound healing.

​

In class, I see myself as a facilitator gently guiding my students towards a deeper awareness of their body and mind, whether it is in the movement of a vinyasa flow or the stillness of a restorative class. Needless to say, restorative yoga and gong are my favourite classes to teach, as I personally experienced the most benefit from these two types of classes.

​

As a yoga teacher, I have clocked more than 500h of training covering yoga asana, meditation, breathwork and mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques, and over 2,000 teaching hours. I am a Level 3 Reiki-attuned practitioner, a tarot and crystal amateur and I yap plenty on energy work and vibrational medicine.

Slowing down is an aspect of life that many have forgotten; I share my knowledge to remind others (and myself!) to slow down and stay in the moment.
